Devotional Thought

When you love someone you will also find that you love what they love and hate what they hate…
So it is with our faith-walk. In this relationship we have with God through the finished work of Jesus Christ, we will find that as we grow closer in likeness to Jesus we will love what He loves (righteousness) and hate what He hates (wickedness).  Examine your heart and your life today. Are you loving and hating the right things?

The Will and the Way: Mark 14:32

Before going to the cross, Jesus struggled in prayer. He knew the pain that He would have to endure

and the sin He would bear. But Jesus concluded His prayer with the simple statement, “Yet not what

I will, but what You will” (v. 36). We face many prayer struggles at different times in our lives – waiting

at the bedside of a suffering loved one, making a difficult decision, pondering what the future holds.

It’s comforting to know we can pray the same way Jesus prayed, boldly stating our request but being

willing to live with God’s answer.

At these critical moments, I opened my heart to God and, with freedom and passion, I prayed:

Prayer Focus

As you read in 2 Kings this week, you will see over and over again the history of the kings of Judah and Israel revealed, and the problem they struggled with over and over was separateness.  God has called his people to be separate – to be different than the world, to be holy.  Even the kings of Judah, when they got it right and pleased the Lord, they still got it wrong and wouldn’t separate entirely.

As you pray and fast today, ask the Lord to reveal your heart to you.  Are you living a life of separateness?  Is holiness a motivating factor in your life?

Lord Jesus, help us be close to you!
