Bylaw Updates
The Deacon Board has recently updated the language in the Membership Agreement and has proposed some minor changes that allow for consistency. Please use this form to vote YES or NO on the following changes.
All votes must be submitted by this form only (no email will be counted).
VOTE TOPIC #1:
We would like to update Article I, Section 3(b).
It states: “Follow the Scriptural command to be baptized in water by immersion “in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6).”
We are still requiring water baptism, but are making provision for times that a person might medically be unable to experience immersion, or other unusual circumstances.
Therefore, we would like to remove “by immersion.”
The New Statement will say: “Follow the Scriptural command to be baptized in water “in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6).”
VOTE TOPIC #2:
We would like to update Article I, Section 3(f).
It states: “Abstain from worldly amusements which do not conform to the Biblical principles of:
(1) Expediency (1 Corinthians 6:12; 10:23),
(2) Glory of God (1Corinthians 10:31),
(3) Offending a brother (Romans 14:13, 21),
and from the physical use of materials which defile the body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and/or enslave one’s spirit, such as nicotine, alcohol and other non-medical drugs (1Corinthians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 John 2:15-17).
We are still requiring a pursuit of holiness, but we do not want to provide a list. There are many more items that could be added to the list of a serious nature. The list would be on-going.
Plus, we believe that the numerical points cover any listed items.
Therefore, we would like to remove the line: “and from the physical use of materials which defile the body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and/or enslave one’s spirit, such as nicotine, alcohol and other non-medical drugs (1Corinthians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 John 2:15-17).”
