Giving with a Cheerful Heart
You know that feeling when someone gives you a gift, and you can just tell they did it out of obligation? It’s like they’re saying, "Here you go, because I have to." Not exactly the warm and fuzzy vibe, right? Well, that’s exactly what Paul’s talking about in 2 Corinthians 9:7. He’s reminding us that when it comes to giving—whether it’s our time, money, or energy—God cares more about how we give than how much we give.
Paul says, "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." In other words, if you’re going to give, do it with a smile! It’s not about feeling pressured or guilty; it’s about being excited to bless others. So, next time you’re thinking about giving, whether it’s dropping some cash in the offering plate or lending a hand to a friend, check your heart first. If you can do it with joy, that’s when you know you’re hitting the mark.
